I was going to stop updating here because I wasn't finding anything (especially not anything that was interesting enough to update) about the house or who had it torn down. I came to the conclusion on my own that it was probably the city's decision, seeing that it was abandoned and kind of an eyesore. You saw the photos. Thing was ugly.
But today I got a letter in the mail.
I had to run upstairs and get my camera to take these, otherwise nobody would believe it. I barely believed it. As you can see from the photos I took, the thing is covered in some weird symbols, and whoever sent it knows my name. I took some more pictures of the symbols once I got upstairs.
I did some research online but couldn't find anything about these symbols online or anything, so if anyone knows what these mean, please comment on this post or something. I'm kind of at my wits end right now. It's hard to research a specific symbol on the internet. "Diamond thing with squiggly tail" isn't really a common search term for Google, believe it or not. The back of the envelope had this message on it.
I have absolutely no idea what to make of this statement. At this point, I'm thinking it's just some neighborhood kids screwing with me or something. "i like trees"? The hell does that mean? Anyway, all of this stuff-weird as it was-was nothing compared to what I found once I opened it.
A polaroid (who even USES polaroid cameras anymore?) that just says "dig". Sure, another cryptic statement, but what worries me the most about this photo is that it's a snapshot of the house that was torn down, but taken from what appears to be the angle of MY window. Whoever took this photo was INSIDE my apartment. I'm checking all my closets and shit right now. I might even have someone come spend the night. I don't really feel safe. I'll let you know if anything else happens, and if ANYONE knows what those symbols might mean, PLEASE let me know asap. Thank you.
Hm... Well I'm not sure about the diamond thing, but the other symbols look like Japanese to me. They could either be the character for 're' in japanese or, if they have a penmenship quirk, for 'chi'. I don't see why that would make any sense though, since it would just be saying rerererere or chichichichichi which doesn't mean anything. Chi alone could mean blood, ground, earth, or place. Re doesn't mean anything unless an i is added, which would mean ghost, soul, or zero.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah, not sure if that helps at all, and I'm not even sure I'm right. That's just what it looks like to me.
Well, if it is japanese and it means "ground" or "earth", then "dig" would be an appropriate cryptic message on the polaroid. Still, I'm doing more research, but thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteCan we get a sample of your handwriting?
ReplyDeleteSay
'My favorite color is pink and I enjoy rabbits'.
I'm not sure about the diamond with the tail, but the other symbol resembles the second symbol on this page: http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/17/178.html
ReplyDeleteRaine: Hmmm, that looks about right. I clicked through the list of words associated with it and it says it means "Teeth". The hell kind of cryptic message is THAT?
ReplyDeleteIt said that that symbol was the most common forms of sign for the planet Saturn. The planet Saturn was known already some 6,000 years ago and has, until the French Revolution at the end of the eighteenth century, represented the outermost boundary of the planetary system, and a measure when calculating long periods of time. The planet Saturn uses approximately 29 earth years to orbit the sun. Therefore a human lifespan can be said to be two, or at the very most three of this planet's orbits in the zodiac. Partly for this reason Saturn is associated with Death and the Reaper, the skeleton in black hood with a scythe who reaps men and women when their time is up.
Well THAT sounds hopeful.
I had another thought. The diamond with the tail is where the return address would normally go. Maybe it isn't a symbol. Maybe it's a sort of signature. Maybe I'm just over thinking it.
ReplyDeleteOh jeez, that's actually a really good thought. That never even crossed my mind. I'm going to continue doing research on what that symbol means, but if nothing else, I at least have "signature" to fall back on. Now if only it had a name to go with it.
ReplyDeleteThe diamond thing looks more like a kite than anything else.
ReplyDeleteIf that means ANYTHING whatsoever.
There are inconstancies in the †R symbols. They are clearly Rs and not H's.
ReplyDeleteLook at the angle of.which the photo was taken and where in the yard.it points to. Then start "digging ".
Sorry about the comments suddenly, just fascinated by this whole thing :)
Maybe that diamond thing is a kite? Idk
ReplyDeleteA few people have said "kite" but I don't know what the HELL that would mean. I can't even understand how "kite" would fit into all of this.
ReplyDeleteI KNOW WHAT THE "H" ONE IS!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I'm excited.
It means Saturn in ancient Roman times. I'm not sure why that is on your letter, but that is what it is.
Whoops. Just read your comments, lol. You already knew it means Saturn. Now I feel silly, lol.

ReplyDeleteIt's a linguistic symbol. It's probably something from IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet or whatever) but I've forgotten what it's supposed to sound like.
Soo. I'm not being too helpful.
